Thanks for the great book club and our host Ellen.

      Ellen’s note:
Tonight’s book was Glennon Doyle’s Untamed and we had a great discussion. We took the elevator down from our heads to our hearts and discussed the topics of the book: Authenticity, learning and speaking your truth, bravery, passion, and trusting your knowing. We explored how these themes were present in our lives as wives, mothers, and women in today’s society.

Our next Book Club will be hosted by Karen Baxter and our book is The ONE Thing: The Surprisingly Simple Truth About Extraordinary Results by Gary Keller. The date is TBD.

Thank you to the beautiful woman that shared your vulnerable selves in the recent book club discussion Untamed! Just listened to the playback after not being able to come live. Read only part of the book but quite familiar with GD’s story. I wish I could have been on the call as I resonated with so much of what you each expressed. “Courage” is my one word takeaway. I have these two prints (Kelly Rae Robert is the artist) up where I can see them each day as a reminder of the on going journey I’m on. The simple message they offer has helped me through much of the last decade of living and being, in the present, and in the unknowing of tomorrow. One it says “Our impossibility is our greatest gift.” The other says “Let’s promise to always be brave together.”
I look forward to exploring the next book! 💓

I finally had time to listen to this book discussion today, and just …wow!

I love that EIM is a safe space that allows all of us to vent, to cry, to explore, to be vulnerable. So many of us have had variations of the same basic life experience, especially the women in the group…many followed the pattern of marriage or long term relationships, following the spouse’s career journey, the spouse’s needs, then kids, and then wondering at 50 what happened to us! I hold deep respect and gratitude for everyone who makes themselves vulnerable in the group, and for everyone who allows that in me and others.

I appreciated everyone’s comments about this book. I’ve read in several reviews that it’s readers tend to fall pretty clearly into camps of love or yuck with this one and that’s been my experience over three attempts to read it. Not my book, not my author, but you all helped me consider Doyle and Untamed in new ways and I thank you for that!
